On the prompt initiative of Deputy Commissioner Bokaro Ajay Nath Jha, the family of deceased worker Akhil Kumar—who died during treatment at Bokaro General Hospital after sustaining severe injuries in a blast at Shivpriya Ispat Udyog—was provided 15 lakh compensation under the Workmen’s Compensation Act, 1923, along with 50,000 as immediate assistance for funeral expenses.

The compensation was formally handed over under the supervision of Labour Superintendent Ranjit Kumar and Balidih police station in-charge. DC Jha expressed deep grief over the tragic incident and assured that all necessary support would be extended to the bereaved family.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning during production work, when a sudden blast in the blast furnace led to serious injuries to two workers. While one worker, Akhil Kumar, succumbed during treatment, another remains under medical care. DC Jha has also directed concerned departments to ensure strict adherence to industrial safety norms to prevent such incidents in future.
