CM tells cops to stop lynching of innocents

PNS

Chief Minister Raghubar Das has directed the police officials to ensure that no one takes law in his hand and action must be taken against those violating the rule of law.

He stressed that lynching of innocent people must be checked at any cost.

“Some people are hell bent on disturbing peace and harmony in the name of cow slaughter. They should not be successful,” he maintained. “Kisi ki pairvee sunane ki jarurat nahi hai (There is no need to pay heed to any pairvee),” he clarified.

During a review meeting on law and order situation in the State, Das expressing pain over the increasing crime graph, directed police officials to get control over it and take action against the officers in-charge of concerned police stations.

“Effective law and order is the priority of the State Government and safety and security of the people must not be compromised. Cases must get detected fast and inefficient police officials, not able to detect the cases, may be dismissed,” he said.  “They have been given all the facilities and free hand to perform. So, if they were not able to control law and order situation in their areas, they must be dismissed,” he added.

Das, during the meeting, also directed the officials to ensure complete ban on cow slaughter in the State and take strict action against those who are involved in it.

“The Officer in-charge of the police stations where illegal trade of cattle is found to be taking place will be dismissed. An act has been passed in this regard and action must be taken in this regard,” said the CM.

The CM also directed the SPs and DSPs to visit at least two police stations daily on regular basis in order to create pressure upon them.

Putting the onus of illegal mining on concerned police stations, Das said action will be taken against those OCs under whose jurisdiction such incidents were found to be taking place.

“Service-oriented policing must be the priority considering poor people as their God and action must be taken accordingly,” said the CM.

Das also said that increasing incidents of cyber crime in the State was a challenge as they could originate from anywhere in the world and hence cyber police stations are being upgraded with better infrastructure and modern technologies.

Referring to the peace committees, Das said that they had been formed several years back and hence members might have gone ineffective or irrelevant for the society which needs to be changed.

“Form new committees all over the State at the district, block or police station level as well, involving more and more young and energetic people in it,” said the CM.

Das, calling traffic control a challenge for the State Police, asked them to chalk out plans to resolve it.

The meeting was attended by DGP DK Pandey, Principal Secretary to CM Sanjay Kumar, Principal Home Secretary SKG Rahate, Principal Secretary of Personnel Department Nidhi Khare along with the DCs and SPs of all 24 districts in the State.
