With his back to the wall, Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday came out strongly and defended his coalition Government terming it stable.
The CM even put strong foot forward and lauded it for taking decisions for the welfare of people.
“There is no question on the stability of the Government. The Government is stable and going ahead with the programmes and schemes speedily in the interest of the people,” said the Chief Minister while interacting with media persons at his ancestral village Nemra of Ramgarh.
The reaction came following a blunt remark from his Cabinet colleague and Congress legislative Party leader Rajendra Singh.
The Congress leader had on Sunday said that even he wanted this Government to go and even went ahead and threatened the partner JMM to walk alone in the upcoming Assembly polls.
Singh said that he may approach the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi and try his best to convince her about parting ways.
Even the extended Executive Committee meet of the Congress held on Sunday saw majority of members supporting to go alone in the next polls.
Though the Chief Minister played safe and added that the decision on stability and functioning of the Government was not the matter of the media to discuss and instead on appropriate forum.
A section in the Congress party was against the coalition and had opposed it even before the Government formation exercise was taking shape.
“I had cautioned the party leader in the Jaipur convention that the alliance would be disastrous for the health of the party. Now the leaders are realising this,” said AICC member Radha Krishna Kishore.
Some in the party also term it an advance posturing by the Congress ahead of the parliamentary poll results in which it may have to face a drubbing again.
However, for the JMM running the Government up to its fag end seems its utmost priority.
