Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved the proposal to allow maternity leave to women workers appointed on contract basis. Now women workers appointed on contract will get the benefit of maternity leave. It may be noted that earlier there was no provision to give the benefit of maternity leave to women employees appointed on contract. When the matter came to the notice of the Chief Minister, he gave approval to give maternity leave to the women workers appointed on contract.
The proposal approved by the Chief Minister will be applicable to such women workers who have worked on contract for 80 days in the last 12 months, they will be given maternity leave of 180 days. This leave will not be admissible on delivery of two living children. The contractual amount for maternity leave will be equal to the last contracted amount received before proceeding on leave.
