Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Thursday said that bringing the concept of Clean India to a concrete form is everyone’s moral responsibility. He said that on September 7, 2015 in the review meeting of Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, Principal Secretary Amrendra Pratap Singh was directed that people related with Government who can build their toilets should present a precedent for the masses by building their own toilets and making the State ODF.

The CM said that nearly 3 lakh staffs are working on contract on annual grant and there are 1.5 lakh pensioners. Hence 4-5 lakh families are there who have constructed their toilets and are using. He said that if these families get their names removed from the base-line list, other deserving, poor and left out families can be given the benefit. Apart from this, 3 lakh pensioners of the central public enterprises/ govt. offices/ affluent private companies should be connected with this campaign.

The CM appealed to prioritise this campaign and Government staff and Departmental workers should build toilets in their houses before August 15 and use them.  Such families will be felicitated by the DC with admiration letter.

Principal Secretary, Drinking Water and Sanitation Department Amrendra Pratap Singh said that officers working in administrative service and pensioners, other contract workers including Para teachers, Anganwadi Sevikas, MGNREGA workers, Computer operators, ANMs, Health dept.  Agriculture and RDD servants, capable contractors, PDS dealers and big and capable farmers, families can construct their own toilets and use.

Singh said that previously also, directives were issued in this regard. He said that these initiatives were taken in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Himachal Pradesh and had positive impact.
