The newborn premature baby girl rescued by schoolboys in a bus coming to the State capital from Giridih on June 19 and then admitted by police at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has grabbed the attention of CM Raghubar Das. The CM asked the premiere medical institution to provide her better treatment.
The below weight baby (800 grams) was found to be critical while she was admitted in the Neo Natal ward. However, with the constant efforts of the Paediatrics department led by Dr Amar Verma, she was reported in a stable condition today afternoon.
Notably, police approached the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) immediately after admitting the baby who in turn contacted Child line for caretakers. The Child line has been providing shift-wise care takers in the ward.
Ranchi CWC member Meera Mishra visited the baby and interacted with the Paediatrics department head Dr Arun Kumar Sharma about the baby’s health status on Monday. “Dr Sharma and his team found that the baby was most probably thrown in the bus with the purpose of killing but it is a miracle to see her alive and struggling to live,” said Meera. CWC is eager to line up foster care facilities for the baby.
The care taker Niru said, “Presently, her skin temperature is 32 degrees and air temperature is 31.7 degrees which means she is recovering. It was comparatively low since morning. Doctors are visiting frequently and giving her drips, cleaning her mouth and ensuring regular checkups.”
“She has undergone pathological tests. We will be receiving the report by 9 pm,” added Niru. Notably, school boys who boarded the bus at Ramgarh noticed the baby below a seat when they reached Ormanjhi Toll Gate.
