CM appeals Maoists to shun violence

Chief Minister Raghubar Das has reiterated the stand of the Government and extended a fresh appeal to the Maoists active in Jharkhand to shun violence and join the mainstream.

Addressing a public meeting at Nagar Untari of Garhwa on Sunday the Chief Minister recalled several schemes which are beneficial for not only the common people but the leftwing ultras as well.

“You have to understand that no goal can be achieved through violence. A gun can take life but cannot give life. Aspirations of the masses can be met only through developmental schemes. I once again appeal to the Maoists to leave gun culture and join the mainstream for the wellbeing of the poor and the State,” said the CM while participating in Bansidhar Mahotsava.

The public meeting was held at Nagar Untari that has been center of one of the hotbeds of the ultras in the State. Couple of days ago the police and CRPF have in a joint operation neutralised dreaded Maoist Ajay Yadav and his aides who was carrying reward in their heads. Several anti-naxal operations have recently been conducted in Palamau, latehar and Garhwa districts in which the security forces have recorded considerable success.

He on the occasion also agreed to the demand of Palamau MP VD Ram and approved remaining Nagar Untari as Bansidhar Nagar. Soon the Government would issue notification in this regard. The place is quite famous for the Bansidhar temple of lord Krishna that holds immense historic and religious value.

“The appeal should be taken seriously and they should grab this opportunity with both hands. If they chose the other way then the law will take its own course,” said the CM issuing a warning to the left wing extremist organizations active in the area.

He at the same time also underlined the need to free the system from the middlemen and said that these people are taking away the advantages by depriving the poor. The CM called on the Government officials and people representatives to fill the gaps existing and help the people in getting their dues.

The CM recalled that the dry Palamau region would be provided with water from the Sone river and DPR for the project costing Rs 4000 crore was ready and foundation of it would be laid in May this year. He also underlined the scope of developing the region in the field of tourism in future.

Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravansi, MlAs Satyendra Nath Tiwari, Radha Krishna Kishore, Shiv Pujan Mehta, Bhanu Pratap Sahi and Alok Chaurasia besides several other local leaders were present during the festival.
