The CM shared his Government’s vision and mission for the State constabulary which stressed upon building institutions and capacity building for the State police force that will be the Government’s focus in the next financial year.

“In the financial year 2015-16 in which about Rs200-crore will be spent we will create training centres for crime investigation. I believe that our officials get training at least once in a year if it not possible to train them in six-month time. This has been my view and we will definitely do this in the financial year,” said the CM.

The Crime Investigation Department also unveiled its website to provide information regarding crime in Jharkhand and also unveiled logo of the department. Rising participation of women in activities considered traditionally a male’s bastion and the biggest impediment in women empowerment especially in Jharkhand—trafficking— formed part of the CM’s address.

Das assured to crush trafficking and urged all Government departments to work collectively to end exploitation of women. A women battalion is also likely to come up besides massive recruitment for short staffed State Police.

“Keeping in view the challenges faced by police while discharging their duties State Government will extend all support to police and I assure you that. In the next two months we will make massive recruitment for police and our Government is also contemplating setting up a women battalion,” said Das.

The State police will also be more made agile against Naxalism which is the single most challenge that consumes more resources of the State and also to address the evolving threat of terrorism that has spread its tentacles in Jharkhand in recent times.

Nonetheless the CM’s free hand came with a caveat for police personnel against personal interests.

“If someone challenges law then the government will give them a befitting reply under the law. Our first priority is to provide security to common man. I will give you a free hand for making a crime-free and naxal-free Jharkhand and I assure you that there will be no interference. However, I would urge you to discharge your duties honestly,” maintained Das.
