Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Sunday announced to give a facelift to the Jaipal Singh Stadium located at Karandih, a tribal dominated area near the city. He said that though it is named as ‘stadium’ but it lacks basic infrastructure. He said that the Government will approve a fund for construction of the stadium in the next budget.

Das was addressing Sohrai festival function at Karandih. He said that the stadium will be equipped with modern facilities and will be ready by 2018. “Our Government is dedicated for the welfare of the tribals. The stadium will be a boon for youths. We have also decided to start textile training programme which will provide 40,000 jobs in next two years,” said the Chief Minister. He also added that Government is promoting self employment schemes.

Targeting those opposing amendments in Chottanagpur Tenancy Act (CNT) and Santhal Pargana Tenancy (SPT) Act, Das said that people with vested interests were misleading tribals on the issue. The Chief Minister said his government took the latest decision after consulting the Tribal Advisory Council (TAC), the apex body that recommends and decides on tribal affairs in the state.
