On Thursday  he appeared in the court of  chief judicial magistrate, Ajit Kumar Singh at the Jamshedpur civil court in connection with a case of violation of model code of conduct registered with the Sakchi police station in 2009.

Along with Das, two of his party functionaries Ramphal Mishra and Chandrashekhar Mishra who were also accused in the case, had appeared in the court.  The court acquitted all the three accused, giving them benefit of doubt.  During the 2009 assembly election, Das was the candidate for the Jamshedpur East assembly constituency and Chandrashekhar Mishra was the then district president. They had set up a party office for election purpose at the house of Ramphal Mishra without permission from the administration.
