'Cloud, rain to bring mercury down in city'

PNS

Cloudy conditions and feeble rain is likely to add to the chill in the atmosphere over Ranchi as weathermen predict slight drop in the temperature in next few days due to clear sky.

According to the office of Indian Meteorological Department at Ranchi, rain like condition has given way to weak cloud system. The conditions as it is evolving with the cloud formation over the capital would however result in slight rainfall and any immediate fall in mercury is unlikely despite drizzle.

Fogs are likely to engulf the city due to the hanging cloud and the moisture build up over previous few days. “There is a small system developing however that would lead to drizzle that too in isolated pockets. Clouds would persist and so the temperature would not change that much. Moisture is building up and if cloud persists in early morning then chances of fog increases,” said IMD’s Director at Ranchi, BK Mondal.

Any changes in the temperature would be more visible after 2-3 days as weather scientists predict that clear sky would push mercury further southwards. “The Western Disturbance has moved away so in next few day temperature would drop to 2-3 degress,” said Forecast Officer at IMD Ranchi, U Shrivastava.

Notably, mercury touched to maximum if 24 degrees and minimum of 11 degrees on Friday.
