Chief Justice Virender Singh, making a humble appeal in an open court on Tuesday, asked people to gift saplings rather than a bouquet of flowers as a gesture of honour towards others.According to the Chief Justice, flowers must be left to live their life and not to be plucked before they are shed naturally by the plants.
“I would now like to receive sapling with a small pot which could be planted at any suitable place. Plucking of flowers at a premature stage for putting it into the bouquet is totally unjustified,” said the Chief Justice.
The Chief Justice made the remark while hearing a PIl related to the appointment of teachers in Government schools and added that he would avoid taking bouquet of flowers during the private and public functions in future. The Chief Justice made the suggestion while talking about various schemes and programmes which could be launched by Jharkhand legal Services Authority (JlSA) and other agencies for creating awareness among the masses.“The Honourable Chief Justice, making an out of context remark during the hearing said that he also had something in his mind which could be propagated among the masses,” said advocate Rajesh Shankar.
