Acting tough against the erring builders, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) on Thursday sealed three newly-built multi-storeyed buildings constructed in deviation of approved building plan. The buildings that have been sealed include two five-storeyed buildings at in Sakchi and one six-storeyed building at Bhuiyandih under Sitaramdera police station.
According to sources, the two buildings that have been sealed on Thursday had permission for setting up building of ground plus three floor, but the builders had constructed ground plus four floor instead. Similarly, at Bhuiyandih, there was permission to set up ground plus three plus, but the promoter had built additional three floors. The special officer, Deepak Sahay said that they on Thursday sealed the buildings built in deviation of the approved plan.
"We inspected the buildings and decided to seal them. Further we will send notice to the promoter concerned for giving an explanation on deviation of the approved plan. Further action will depend on the reply put forward by the promoters. Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee has also decided to embark the demolition drive against the unauthorised use of parking into commercial purpose in the same localities where the civic body had carried out the drive two years ago,” he said.
According to the sources, the JNAC has a long list of such buildings which have been built in deviation of the actual building plan. The process of sealing these buildings in areas like Sakchi, Bistupur, Sonari, Sitaramdera, and the process of getting such building demolished will be followed once the necessary equipment is made available to the civic body.
“We would be carrying out similar drive in different lanes and roads inside the Sakchi market regularly as part of our objective to decongest roads in the market area,” said the official.Similar drives would be carried out on the road opposite Basant Talkies, Tin Shed Market and on Kalimati Road.“We cannot compromise with the safety of market place. Moreover, people also find it inconvenient to move into the market freely with the passages getting choked due to the make-shift shops," said the official.
A JNAC official said that that the civic body is facing an acute staff crunch, due to which the under-constructed buildings cannot be monitored regularly. "We have decided to act against buildings built in deviation of the approved plan,” he noted. Encroachments in the city are omnipresent and thriving, much to the discomfort of the ordinary citizen.
