City schools welcome State Govt decision of not reopening schools

During Unlock-4, the Ministry of Home Affairs had issued standard operating procedures for opening schools for students of class IX to XII, who can visit the institutions for consulting the teachers and solving their queries. However, with the increasing number of Covid-19 cases, the State government on Friday evening decided not to reopen schools from September 21 for the same.

The school authorities in Ranchi have welcomed this decision stating that calling students to school even for a short time may prove to be of high risk for the children as well as the teachers.

“The State government’s decision is welcome and it is in absolute favour of the students. With more cases being reported daily it is not possible to call the students to school. At present, the well being of the students is of utmost priority. When a final decision of reopening schools is taken by the government, all Central and State government guidelines will be strictly followed and till then our online classes will be continued,” said Dr Ram Singh, Principal Delhi Public School, Ranchi.

Voicing a similar opinion, Dr Manohar Lal, Principal Guru Nanak Public School said, “The speed at which the virus is spreading, the safety of the students is very important. A lot of other states have also decided to not reopen schools for class IX- XII students. Even parents are not willing to send their children right now. Hopefully from next month students especially of class X and XII will be able to visit school to attend their practicals but nothing can be said right now.”

“The school has been conducting online classes daily and students do get chances to get their doubts cleared. The videos of the topics covered are also being uploaded on the school’s website. The only problem is conducting practicals. During virtual classes, though the teachers are showing them the practical but it is not possible for the students to do the same at home,” said Father Fibu Abraham Mathew, Principal St Thomas School, Ranchi.
