City residents join hands for disposing garbage

City residents under the banner of Empower Jharkhand and NSUI have begun campaign ‘Halla Bol’ to dispose the garbage and improve the dilapidated condition of lanes and roads. The first step was taken by knocking the doors of Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Thursday for supporting the cause.

The denizens have planned to clean the city themselves, if RMC backs out in favouring them. “In Kokar, students are unable to attend school regularly due to the accumulation of garbage near their residence. People in Nagababa Khatal are coping without drainage wherein roads are broken. In lalpur, no one can visit the Birsa Munda Sthal due to the overflowing drains and garbage. Similar is the garbage system in Ratu road and ponds across the city demanding prompt attention for cleanliness,” said Empower Jharkhand president Aditya Vikram Jaiswal.

Notably, Kokar is one of the densely populated areas of the state capital. The Haider Ali Road here is ruined despite the booming real estate. Nagababa Khatal is part of the trading centre with a fresh vegetable market. lalpur has the biggest market whereas Ratu Road is the biggest residential place within the city.

As the senior authorities of RMC were unavailable, Jaiswal accompanied by denizens of these localities and few NSUI members, submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Town Commissioner Gyanendra Kumar appealing to take action towards the filthy condition of the mentioned areas. Kumar assured that RMC would initiate for the cleanliness process in all possible ways. “I will discuss about the matter with the concerned authorities of the corporation,” said the Deputy Town Commissioner.

Jaiswal has requested the civic body members to improve the scenario at the earliest. “We hope RMC will support our campaign. In case, they do not show interest in the next 15 to 20 days, we will take out a tractor and clean the dumped wastes. It is high time to tackle the flowing of dirty water over the drains and ponds,” Jaiswal said.

NSUI members have pledged to come forward with Jaiswal in all the social activities. “We are keen to assist people working for a positive change in the society,” said NSUI member Amrit Kumar Singh. The main purpose of the residents is to make the state capital cleaner and safer.
