Several areas of the city under the command area of Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) continued to experience severe power cuts for the third consecutive day on Sunday due to technical snag.

Areas like Mango, Adityapur, Parsudih, Chhotagovindpur and Jugsalai are the worst-hit due to technical snags at the power grid sub-stations at Gamharia and Karandih.

When contacted executive engineer of JSEB, Abhay Kumar admitted about the problem. “The power supply was disrupted due to technical snags in the power grid sub-stations and the transmission lines. Efforts are being made to restore normal power supply at the earliest, “he said.

The Adityapur industrial area in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district also had to bear the brunt of the power crisis. Sources in industrial area said that several tiny, small and medium scale units could not operate due to the power crisis.

The worst-hits were industrial units at Adityapur and Gamharia, which are dependent on JSEB. Most of the industries were unable to meet their schedules due to erratic power supply.

Sources revealed that the power supply was also restricted from the Central load Despatch ( ClD) in Ranchi. The power grid sub-stations at Gamharia and Golmuri, which caters to Singhbhum region was getting short supply from the ClD. Notably, a couple of days back power supply in several command areas of JSEB went haywire following heavy rain s. JSEB sources said that the damaged transmission lines were yet to be repaired at a few places affecting power supply.

“The situation is getting worse with every passing day. The years old electricity wires and poles are in abject condition with incident of power cuts being taking place frequently in summer,” informed, Mahesh Patel, resident of Mango.
