The newly appointed chairman of CII Jharkhand Council SK Behara on Monday reiterated his demand for an effective implementation of the State Industrial Policy 2012 with a focus on infrastructure and creation of land Bank in benefit of the industrialists interested in setting up of the company here.
“The regime in Jharkhand must take proper initiative in creating a developing environment for the companies coming to the State. Apart from keeping demand for implementation of Industrial Policy, CII demands creation of land Bank to solve the land problems faced by the companies interested in coming to State," said Behara, vice-chairman-cum-managing director of RSB Group, while addressing a media interaction.
The move will serve duel purpose for the administration, on one hand and it will ensure hassle free availability of land on the other hand it would also make the administration update with the availability of land for industrial and other purposes as and when required he added.
He went to note that land Bank can be established by consolidating the existing available land holding and enlarging the command area to Saraikela Kharsawan. The move would motivate many Indian and MNC auto components manufacturers to invest in the State. He also expressed an urgent need for international airport at Jamshedpur without this airport export potential of Jamshedpur is underutilized.
Citing examples of Chennai and Gujarat, he said that most of the auto majors are setting plant there, steps need to be taken to ensure that Jharkhand regime is able to attract auto investors here too. Behara, who led a CII Jharkhand delegation to Ranchi recently and met Mr RS Sharma, Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, said that he has raised issues concerning the development of the State.
Behera updated Chief Secretary on the activities of CII Jharkhand like the Investors Meet, Skill Gurukul in Gumla and Jamshedpur and ensured more skill development activities in the State. “The meeting was very productive, Chief Secretary ensured full support for development of the State” said Behera.
He also demanded that the Government must set time line for completion status of the NH33 between Barhi to Bahragora. CII has expressed a need to establish an industrial corridor between Saraikela to Ramgarh. Behara noted that this could be in line with Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor being established under Japanese financial and technical assistance.
“Several states are using the land running along with NH stretch for developing industrial corridor and can also be utilised in Jharkhand too to meet the shortage of land,” the chairman said.
A new common Purchase Policy which is acceptable by all Government department must to be declared in place of the old policy which was discontinued in 2008 the chairman signed off.
