Call it an irony or merely the nonchalant attitude of the State cricket board functionaries –while the world is going north to catch up with the advancements in information technology, the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) is lagging behind in the race. So much so that the office bearers have overlooked the JSCA website that still projects former president Amitabh Chaudhary as the incumbent president alongwith other former members of the management committee.

The JSCA official website http://www.cricjharkhand.org/ that portrays the mirror of cricket in the land of MS Dhoni has shows message and picture of former president Amitabh Chaudhary on its home page with months old pictures and information. The happenings section shows events that date back to 2014 and 2016. The officials, however, have cared to update tender notices and news links for the test match beginning on March 16.

Chaudhary, who holds the post of Joint Secretary in the BCCI, has quit the post in pursuance of the lodha Committee recommendations.

“This can be termed as a mistake. In fact, the newly formed body of the JSCA is so busy with preparations for the test match between India and Australia net week that it could not get the website revamped. We have this in mind to revamp the whole website and make it more vibrant. In a couple of days the work will be done,” said JSCA vice president Ajay Nath Sahdeo.

When contacted, newly appointed JSCA president Kuldeep Singh, who doesn’t even figure prominently on the website, said that the first priority of the board was to conduct the test match flawlessly and after that only they would think about updating the website.

Notably, this is for the first time the State cricket body is giving free passes to school students, army and CRPF personnel to attract audiences for the test match. “We have been doing a lot to attract people for the match. Free passes to kids and security personnel would be distributed from tomorrow. Hoardings have been put across  major cities of the State including Dhanbad, Jamshedpur and Ranchi. Advertisements are also being given on TV channels and newspapers to get a positive response. We hope that the test match would attract audiences in huge numbers in the city to make it a success here,” said Shahdeo.

As a token of respect for our Men in uniform, the JSCA will be giving complimentary passes to the Police and Army personnel along with CRPF and NCC so that they can enjoy this historic event. The Army and Police personnel would be given 11,000 passes each. Almost 5000 complimentary passes for the Cricket Clubs and Academies of Jharkhand. Also, about 35,000 school children along with 10,000 college youths would be given free passes. Schools not only from Ranchi but also from places like Gumla, Hazaribagh and Ramgarh are going to be a part of this match.
