Among the 21 blocks in Palamu, it is the Chainpur block that polled the highest 75.25 per cent.
It is a record of its kind, said sources. The overall voting percentage of Palamu has been 72.32 per cent in this last phase when blocks like Chainpur, Ramgarh, Sadar Medininagar, Pandu and Bishrampur had gone to poll which is quite a satisfactory percentage of voting said sources.
Sadar Medininagar where municipal corporation areas border with the panchayats the voting percentage remained 73.50.
However there is a need to find out the total number of rejected or invalid votes as well said sources.
Sources said scores of votes were set aside from counting for reasonable causes for impropriety like use of the thumb impression on the ballot papers, multi fold of the ballot papers just to name a few of the glaring discrepancies.
Palamu district election officer cum DC Shashi Ranjan too has conceded that there was a large number of votes getting rejected in Hussainabad in 1st phase adding we did take steps to contain this malaise of the voting in the remaining three phases.
