A picnic turned tragic in Angawali when one of the members drowned in the Damodar river near Angawali bridge.
The 45-year-old victim identified as Sanjay Karmalu was at the venue for a picnic on Friday. Peterwar police was quoted as saying that around 10 friends of the CCL employees had gone for the picnic to Angawali river bridge.
The deceased person stepped into the swimming river with other members, where he drowned at around 4:30 pm. It is reported that Sanjay did not know swimming. Following the incident, he was taken to Kargali hospital in Bermo As per a police official, he was declared dead on arrival.
