The Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) of students started in State Government schools from standard 1 to 8 in 2012 will be strengthened from May 1. Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has found the process missing from many schools across the State. The purpose of the evaluation is to ensure enhancement of education and keep a check that a student is grasping the classroom teaching regularly.
“CCE is a part of quality education maintained by teachers for the betterment of the student’s overall performance. After monitoring schools in all the 24 districts, we noticed not all the schools are taking interest. In order to tackle, the communication gap, we have decided to train teachers on CCE in groups from next month,” said JEPC spokesperson Abhinav.
Talking to The Pioneer recently, State Human Resource Development (HRD) Secretary Aradhana Patnaik informed CCE plays a vital role in grooming a student. “CCE is basically observation, rating and introducing methods of improving the academic and co-curricular performance of students. For instance, if a student is unable to frame questions after a classroom teaching, it is the responsibility of the concerned subject teacher to make the student responsive,” said Patnaik.
JEPC has prepared a module for the soon to be implemented CCE pattern. “Two Formative Assessments and two summative assessments will be held for students from May to October besides refresher training for the 1, 25,000 teachers of all the State Government schools,” said Abhinav. Right to Education (RTE) programmes like Buniyad and Buniyad + will also be incorporated in the module. There around 40,174 schools to be covered under the plan.
Official sources mentioned since the academic year 2015-16 is dedicated to ‘Quality Education’, programmes like ‘School Chale, School Chalaye’ along with CCE, Adoption of Schools by Government authorities and ‘Pehle Padhai, Phir Vidaai’ are being focused so that the dropout rate of students from schools due to various hurdles is reduced. Patnaik felt if the CCE is followed strictly it will help the students in producing better results in the final examination. Registers are given to all the school teachers to written and keep a check on the CCE of each student.
