CBI submits status report in Judge ‘murder’ case

PNS

The CBI on Thursday submitted status report of the ongoing investigation of the alleged murder of Dhanbad district court Judge Uttam Anand before the court of Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Dr Ravi Ranjan.

The CBI told the court that the agency has been trying to ascertain the identity of three persons who were doing suspicious activities on the morning of July 28 when the judge on the way to his home after the morning walk was hit by a speeding auto rickshaw.

The Chief Justice said that the CBI report indicates that the auto driver had not hit him under the influence of any narcotics substance and liquor. It seems that the auto driver had deliberately hit the judge. The CBI told the court that the agency is collecting piece after piece to investigate this crime. The court also expressed displeasure over poor infrastructure of Jharkhand State Forensic Laboratory that lack even basic testing facilities.

The court said that it seems the government wants to demolish all institutions which is not the job of a welfare state. The court expressed surprise at how staff can be outsourced for a lab where works are done under complete secrecy.  The government informed the court that JPSC has been asked to start the recruitment process of the vacant posts of lab. The court on this quickly summoned the counsel of the JPSC and asked as to why JPSC has delayed in publishing advertisement for recruitment.

The court said that the court would have ordered the closure of the JPSC had it not been a constitutional body.
