Bharatiya Janata Party's State Working Committee member and senior leader Om Prakash Singh has described the publication of caste-based census report by the Bihar government as half-incomplete and completely politically motivated. He said that this census tells the number of castes but is silent about their economic and social condition. Unless the economic and social conditions of the most oppressed castes of the society are assessed, neither accurate plans can be made for their development nor can they be brought into the mainstream. Caste census data should not be used to make reservation a political weapon. The BJP leader has demanded from the Bihar government to publish the economic and social data along with the caste based census data, so that the basic objectives of the caste census can be fulfilled.
