A pair of trains here in East Central Railway’s Dhanbad Railway Division between Barwadeeh Junction and Dehri On Sone Railway junction cancelled since December 27 last year has added to the commuters’ woes who are forced to cough up more money and time to reach their destination by other means of surface transport.
The trains are 53611 Up and 53612 Dn Barwadeeh – Dehri On Sone GDR passenger trains which continue to remain cancelled since December 27 last year and there is no certainty as to when this pair of trains will resume its journey on this Barwadeeh Dehri On Sone rail route.
Sources said there is already a big crunch of passenger train or coaching train on this rail route and this cancellation has further added to the woes of the passengers which included students and women more. A K Tiwary station superintendent of Daltonganj railway station said this pair of trains stands cancelled since December 27 for two reasons first due to non interlocking work at Dehri On Sone railway station and the other non availability of the rake.
Sources said non interlocking work at Dehri On Sone is now over but it is the rake’s non availability that is put up as reason of cancellation of this pair of passengers’ trains . Tiwary did not say any more on this saying everyday he has to face a barrage of queries from passengers who ask about this train’s resumption of running but he said he has no idea as to when this pair of train will resume its running here here. President of Palamu Zila Abhiwawak Sangh Kishore Kumar Pandey who is a lawyer said “It is painful to see that no politician of any party has raised this issue. None has demanded resumption of these two trains so far.”
He said it is election time and leaders of all parties are so indifferent to the hardships of the common passengers here. “ Big leaders fly by air and so how can they understand the pains of a passenger whose train continues to remain cancelled since December 27?”
Pandey said this pair of trains is for passengers of all kinds like labourers, students, teachers, bankers, vegetable sellers, milk sellers, dry wood sellers etc .
He has urged the railway authorities to restore this train which has 24 stoppages between Barwadeeh and Dehri On Sone covering a distance of 159 kilometers.
Pandey said as Dhanbad Chandrapura (DC) rail route has been opened and so Howrah Bhopal express train be resumed here also to stop and pass through Daltonganj railway station for passengers going to both the ends Howrah and Bhopal..
Railway sources said the cancellation of this pair of trains has affected the monthly revenue of this section very badly.
