The Government, going ahead with its commitment to provide a degree level college in every Assembly segment of the State, has sanctioned Rs 110.38 crore for 2017-18 financial year. To begin with, degree colleges would come up in seven constituencies.

Informing about the decision of the Cabinet taken in this regard on Tuesday, Cabinet Secretary SKG Rahate said that Rs 15.76 crore has been sanctioned for each college.

“Total seven degree colleges would come up in Assembly constituencies namely Kolibera, Dumri, Pirtand, Jarmundi, Hussainabad, Mahagama, and Jharia and Rs 110.38 crore has been sanctioned for that,” said the official. Chief Minister Raghubar Das had in the Assembly announced to provide degree colleges to all Assembly constituencies which do not have the one.

The Cabinet also approved a draft ordinance to regulate tuition fee and admission procedure for all recognised private B Ed colleges operating in the State. Rahate said that the step was to bring symmetry in functioning of all such institutions and to set up a standard guideline for all of them.

In another decision relating to education, teaching and non-teaching staffs—77 in numbers—appointed on contract basis in polytechnic institutions funded by the World Bank would be given pay as per 6th pay commission recommendations. Also, their contract has been extended for the period of 2017-18.  This apart, two gazetted and 11 non-gazetted staffs of the Fishery Directorate have been transferred from plan to non-plan segment while their services have been regularised.

“The Cabinet has also rationlised examination fee charged by District Environment Impact Assessment Authority and District Environmental Appraisal Committee in place in the State for mining minor minerals. It has been brought 50 per cent lesser in every segment than the existing amount,” said Rahate. Also, faculties of MGM, Jamshedpur and PMCH, Dhanbad would be given promotion as per the timelines fixed by the Medical Council of India.

The Cabinet took other two decisions related to merger of two gram panchayats in Chatra and revision of service rules of Government servants which needed prior permission of the State Election Commission before being made public since model code of conduct is in force in the State in the light of upcoming  local body elections.
