The State Cabinet on Tuesday gave its approval for construction of a 2,240-meter Kantatoli flyover connecting Yogada Satsang to Shantingar in Kokar via Bahu Bazar in a project worth `224.94 crore — a decision that is likely to solve the problem of traffic congestion in one of the busiest routes of the State capital.
The project, according to Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel, is expected to be completed in two years, and aimed at improving road infrastructure in Ranchi’s Kantatoli area, an important transit point for people travelling to Jamshedpur, Hazaribag, Patna and other important cities in the region via road. Kantatoli is also a strategic point in connecting different localities within Ranchi city.
Besides, the Cabinet gave its nod to launching a pilot project for providing fortified rice under the Rice Fortification Scheme. Fortified rice is said to be healthier than ordinary rice as several minerals and vitamins are added to it during the process of fortification.
The Cabinet also approved a water supply project for Jhumri Tilaiya in Koderma district under an urban water supply improvement project aimed at easing the process of water supply within the town.
The State Cabinet gave its approval for setting up a Transport Nagar in Kanke worth over `113 crore aimed at providing a place for heavy trucks entering from other districts and states to park during no-entry periods and unload goods. This will be Jharkhand’s first transport nagar, sources said, adding that there has been a long-pending demand for such a facility in the state since it was carved out of unified Bihar in November 2000. The Transport Nagar is also likely to reduce the congestion on the roads caused by the long queues of heavy vehicles waiting to enter Ranchi city during no-entry periods, sources said.
Jharkhand will participate in the World Expo 2021 from September 30 to October 6, and the Cabinet on Tuesday selected Ernst and Young as the state’s event partner, the Cabinet Secretary said. This company has been the event partner for the State Government in several summits in the past.
