Businessmen welcome one-way plan

VIDHI PODDAR

Businessmen have hailed the decision made by administration to make Upper Bazaar one-way. The decision they think would mitigate the problem of traffic congestion in the area, known for its dense business activities.

Food merchandiser in Upper Bazaar market, Arun Jain said, “I welcome this one-way plan as this will solve the problems of heavy traffic in this area.  This market has narrow lanes as a result of which the roads of this area always remained block with vehicles; this also affected our business adversely. So now this one way plan is a better way to control the traffic of this area”.

The Upper Bazaar market always remains flooded with vehicles that lead to heavy traffic in this area. People have to wait for long hours due to road congestion. Seeing these entire problems, traffic city SP Ranjeev Ranjan Singh along with the members of Federation of Jharkhand Chamber Of commerce and Industries (FJCCI) levied one way plan.

“Upper Bazaar market is a well known wholesale market of the city, this place is called jack of all trades as one can meet his entire need in this area. So it the most populated area of the city and the maximum violation of traffic rule was also found in this area only. So this one way plan is expected to bring a better traffic rule in this area too”, said Ashok Jain, owner of Parivar Vastraley.

On one hand, businessmen are happy with the implementation of this one way plan, while on the other hand, the rickshaw-pullers are not much convinced with the decision. Now they will have to take longer route to travel small distances. More over to solve the problem of road congestion now the rickshaw-pullers have been prohibited from standing anywhere in the one-way zone.

Traffic city SP, Rajiv Ranjan Singh said, “From Monday we have levied this one way plan on trial basis and after collecting feedback from the businessmen we will take further step on it.”

On the problem of rickshaw pullers he further added, “Rickshaw-pullers need not to take longer route to travel small distances, as there are many shortcut roads in their route like if these pullers come from Pustak Marg road then in between there is a road which goes towards Kotwali station that route is shortcut for many places in Upper Bazaar. By traveling in those shortcut routes they can reach their desired place without difficulties”.
