Amid ugly war prevailing involving heads of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) their parent party BJP believed that the tussle between Mayor Asha lakra and Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargeeya had been cleverly orchestrated by the senior bureaucrats of the civic body.
The party’s Ranchi District prsident Manoj Mishra said that both lakra and Vijayvargeeya were dedicated and honest leaders of the BJP and their unity was somewhere hampering the vested monetary interests of the bureaucrats, who wanted to loot the fund provided by the state government and from other sources.
“The organisation is having close eyes over the development at RMC. We are worried over the way differences between the two are surfacing. It is not good for the party, because both are the dedicated leaders and their differences, if intensified, would definitely hamper the interests of the party itself in the long run,” said Manoj Mishra on Sunday.
Moreover Mishra accused the present bureaucracy of RMC for all this, he also claimed to have words with lakra and Vijayvargeeya in which they put their perspective.
“The unity of Vijayvargeeya and lakra could never allow them (the bureaucrats) to loot the fund of the civic body. So, they are trying to divide and rule the RMC,” alleged Mishra. He also added that the senior leadership of the party from the State is expected to sit with both the leaders on Tuesday to weed out their differences and to tell them about the possible consequences of their indirect tussle over the party in future.
The facts revealed by the BJP leader make it clear that there are at least few things over which the two public-elected senior-most office bearers of the civic body seriously differ to. Interestingly, lakra and Vijayvargeeya both have repeatedly denied any such tussle between them ever. lakra maintained even today that she had no differences with Vijayvargeeya. Vijayvargeeya, though remained unavailable to comment, yet he has repeatedly denied any differences with the Mayor.
The cold war between the bosses of the RMC over multiple issues has now started worrying local leadership BJP. The tussle which had remained confined within the walls of RMC premise until recent days has now started delivering, resulting in the Mayor taking RMC Board Meeting in the absence of Deputy Mayor and Municipal Commissioner on Saturday last week, in which even 80 per cent of the ward councilors were also absent.
lakra said about the absence of ward councilors on last two consecutive board meetings that the reasons could best be known to them only. “They are public elected representatives who have to go to elections again, and probably again. So, if they give RMC Board Meeting a miss, they should know what they have with them to reply to public. I know nothing about their absence,” said lakra.
Notably, lakra had called RMC Board Meeting on November 10, and every councilor except six out of some 55 chose not to come.
Then she, in the capacity of Mayor, called the meeting on November 19, when the councilor representation couldn’t touch even the double digit. Despite this, she took the meeting, which was cried unconstitutional by Deputy Mayor citing corium clauses. It is reportedly said that the councilors chose to ignore lakra only because they were backed by Vijayvargeeya.
