In order to take on the competition being posed by the private network, State owned telecom BSNL has decided to strengthen 4 G service by upgrading its towers across Kolhan. As per the plans, the company will install around 800 Base Transceiver Station (BTS),which will get an additional system for transmitting 4G network.

Addressing a press meet on BSNL Day at local Circuit House on Wednesday, Chief General Manager Kalyan Kishore Singh, and Principal General Manager Sanjay Kumar, of Jharkhand Telecom Circle, Ranchi, said that they expected to get BTS from January next year and they will start installing the same.

As per the plans,  666 4 G BTS will be installed in the rural belt of East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela Kharsawan. Moreover, 110 such towers will come up in the urban areas. The senior official said that by providing better service, it can add customers and thus in turn revenue can also be increased. BSNL has around 12 lakh customers in the State and plans to increase its base.

BSNL is providing a gamut of telecom services to both retail and corporate customers including Landline, broadband, FTTH, Internet Leased Line, MPLS VPN, Mobile etc and seamless availability of telecom services is pre-requisite for sustained Operational Excellence.

BSNL has been consistently striving to achieve uptime of more than 99.5 per cent for its Core Network and for more than 95% for Its Access Network. Sufficient redundancy has been built up in the network to take care of  any disruption, both internal or external, to obviate single point of failure. This also requires continuous monitoring of different networks and taking corrective action, as and when the fault is detected.

He went on to add that focus will be on Fibre- to- the – home ( FTTH ) service which also brought laurels to the Jamshedpur Business Area.

In Jamshedpur, where the Bharat Air Fibre service was launched in August last year, 900 connections are being added per month.

Jamshedpur BA has 10969 FTTH connections and is only the 5th SSA in the Eastern Zone with more than 10,000 connections, the other four are Port Blair, Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack and Kolkata.

The telecom major also caters to the high-speed internet service at the Adityapur-based National Institute of Technology ( NIT ), Kolhan University, schools and various other educational and business organisations under Jamshedpur Business Area.
