The subscribers of Bharat Sanchar Nigam limited (BSNl) are having a tough time dealing with the dropping of phone calls and poor network of mobile phones and modems.
Despite complaints pouring in at the BSNl offices across the city, the problem is still persisting. The BSNl authorities concerned are least interested in solving the problems of subscribers it seems. The BSNl staff is neglecting their duties despite urgent calls being made by the subscribers. This is seriously hampering the work of a large number of people in the city.
The poor quality is affecting in the telecommunication of its landline and cell-phone services, but also in the broadband services.
“I have no choice left but to shift to another subscriber. Though I have been using BSNl from past one decade, now I am facing connectivity problems a number of times,” said Radhika Kumari, a teacher in Sakchi. Another subscriber said that he was using BSNl for its broadband services but of late the speed of internet has also slow down.
According to information the number of BSNl’s landline was over 70,000 in 2012, but it has come down to 41,912. Number of BSNl pre-paid and post-paid cell-phone also continues to reduce as every day.
Meanwhile, senior general manager, Jamshedpur SSA area, BN Singh, claimed the BSNl service is better than others.
“let me clear you we had connectivity problem for the mobile phone service because of cutting of optical fibre cables (OFC) due to road-widening work on the NH-33. But we are taking care of it, and the network problem is no more here,” claimed the senior GM.
Under the Jamshedpur SSA, which comprises of twin districts of Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan district, there are 216 mobile towers and 86 telephone exchanges.
The BSNl staff maintains that the telephone exchanges are not being properly maintained and the incident of OFCs are also not being attended to by the BSNl authority here, resulting in the poor service.
“Our customers had been complaining of poor network in the rural areas. So we decided to target the fringe areas to improve network. We are working installation of new towers we will be in a position to dole out more connections and improve our customer base,” another official added.
