Government owned telecommunication giant Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited today said that despite call rates hike by telecommunication companies, BSNL has kept all its data and call rates unchanged.

Holding a press conference here on Wednesday, CGMT, Jharkhand Circle, KK Thakur said that at one hand telecommunication companies have raised their call and data rates upto 40 per cent, BSNL has not raised its rates because it works with the intention of service.

He said that one private operator has even started charging 6 paise per minute for outgoing calls, but BSNL does not charge anything like that. Under BSNL’s special offer free SIM cards are being provided till March 31, 2020. All consumers of GP2, whose validity has expired, can get their numbers restarted by doing a free recharge of Rs 5. Those consumers, who want to restart their old numbers can avail the offer, he said.

“As per government of India approval VRS scheme has been brought in BSNL. We want to tell the people that this scheme will not affect the services and operation of BSNL, rather it will improve the services,” he said.

The CGMT informed that 4G service is being started soon in Jharkhand just like other circles of the country. He said that the strong infrastructure of BSNL is helping a lot in the implementation of Government of India’s Digital India scheme. BSNL has provided mobile networks in far flung areas through its LWE towers, through which digital India scheme is being strengthened, he added.

The CGMT further said that keeping the interest of consumers in mind the tariff of BSNL has not been hiked and there is no plan in near future to hike it. Therefore, he said, that consumers can connect with BSNL services by MNP and new SIM. “BSNL was there yesterday, is there today and will remain tomorrow,” said he.
