With the RMC elections round the corner, the Ranchi district administration and police department are busy giving final touch to the preparations. Specific care is being taken regarding security arrangements to ensure peaceful polls on Monday.

A total of 1,830 booths have been designated in Ranchi  “We are covering each and every booth in the district and the buildings where they are located. All the booths have already been categorised as non-sensitive, sensitive and highly sensitive and ample force has been deputed there,” said Additional Director General of Police (law and Order) DK Pandey.

Considering the lack of personnel to handle the security arrangements during the election, security forces are being called in from all over the State to look after the security arrangements. Along with them, the security personnel of the district are gearing up too for the RMC elections.

“We are bringing in personnel of CRPF, district armed police (DAP) and home guards from various districts of Jharkhand. We are expecting around 5,000 to 5,500 extra security personnel from these contributions. More than a thousand personnel of Ranchi police will be joining them for the security arrangements. Overall we will be having around 6,000 to 6,500 security personnel to handle the security issues,” said City SP Manoj Ratan Chothe.

Though, there is ample number of security personnel to avert any untowardly incident during the polls, if need be, help of local bodies and societies will be taken too, the City SP informed.
