In a celebration of sportsmanship and camaraderie, the Mohan Kumar Mangalam Stadium witnessed the inauguration of the five-day-long Inter-Steel Plants Football Championship for the session 2023-24. The opening session was graced by Chief guest Joydeep Dasgupta, Director (Mines), along with Mohan Lal Observer from the Steel Plants Sports Board (SPSB), N.A. Saifi, Chief Manager (L & A), A.K. Avinash, Chief Manager (Town Administration), Anupam Shi, Deputy Chief Manager (F & E/HR), Subhash Rajak, (Sports & CA), and other eminent personalities from the township.
Notably Eight teams participated in the championship, which promises five days of intense football action. The matches will be played based on league standings and knockout rounds, culminating in the final showdown scheduled for 10th February. Yesterday's league matches witnessed victories for teams representing ISP Burnpur, Rourkela Steel Plant, Tata Steel, and Durgapur Steel Plant, setting the stage for an exhilarating competition ahead.
