The BJP has intensified its agitation against former state Congress president Ajoy Kumar for his remarks against NDA presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu. The State BJP has decided to file a case against former IPS officer Kumar under ST/ SC (Prevention of Atrocity) Act 1989 for his derogatory remarks.  The BJP state unit has also decided to launch an agitation against Kumar making the villagers especially the tribal population aware of the negative attitude of the party towards tribal society.

On Tuesday, Congress leader speaking to a news agency had said that NDA's presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu represents a "very evil philosophy of India" and should not be made a "symbol of Adivasi", a remark which drew sharp reaction from the BJP.

The BJP agitation plan was disclosed by State President of BJP Scheduled Tribes Morcha Shiv Shankar Oraon at the party state headquarters in Harmu. State BJP Mahila Morcha president Aarti Kujur and media co-in-charge Ashok Badaik were also present with him on the occasion.

Shivshankar Oraon said that Kumar in his statement has made a petty remark on a woman of the tribal society.  Oroan the former Gumla legislator said that Murmu represents Satanic Philosophy. Congress should tell how it believes that tribal philosophy of life is a satanic philosophy. “Not only the BJP but the entire tribal society is hurt by his statement, so the BJP will now launch a mass movement against the dirty attitude of Ajoy Kumar and the Congress towards the tribal society,” Oraon said.

The BJP leader further said that the Congress party has been neglecting tribal society, considering the party as only a vote bank. He further said, “The Congress treating tribal people as only vote banks reflects that a tribal leader of huge stature Karthik Oroan too was not made cabinet minister in Indira Gandhi cabinet despite he had huge popularity. It is high time that now CM Hemant Soren should also come forward in view of such a mentality of the Congress regarding tribal society and vote in favor of Droupadi Murmu.” He said that for the first time after independence, a woman from tribal society is sure to sit on the highest constitutional post of the country.

Congress-led Opposition parties have fielded former union minister Yashwant Sinha against Murmu for the presidential elections on 18 July.

"It's not about Droupadi Murmu. Yashwant Sinha is also a good candidate and Murmu is also a decent person. But she represents a very evil philosophy of India. We should not make her a symbol of 'Adivasi'. We have President Ram Nath Kovind, Hathras happened. Has he said a word? The condition of Scheduled Castes has become worse," Kumar had said.
