National vice-president of the BJP Raghubar Das met shooter Tara Shahdeo on Sunday, who was allegedly tortured by her husband and mother-in-law, and assured her to meet all expenses for her training for Olympic 2016. Das said that he will arrange everything by talking to the Union Sports Minister in this regard. Das on the occasion announced an assistance of Rs one lakh for the fund being raised by the party.
“A bank account will be opened in her name on Monday which would be made public so that other interested persons may also donate money into it,” said senior party leader Sanjay Seth. Tara on the other hand, expressed her desire to win a medal for India in the 2016 Olympics and get self-respect back for her. Das, speaking to the media persons equated Tara with ‘Queen of Jhansi’ of the day and promised all support to her in winning her dreams.
Expressing surprise that even after two of the state government’s ministers were named in this episode Governor Syed Ahmed did not take any cognizance on the issue. Das also demanded that Hemant Soren must resign immediately.
BJP on the other hand, referring to Assembly Speaker Shashank Shekher Bhokta’s statement that any accused managing to get a click with a minister does not mean that the minister is also a co-accused, through a press release stated that sitting on a constitutional post, one must avoid giving such statements in the public.
