BJP questions Govt on curbing rape cases

PNS

State BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo on Friday said that in the tenure of the current State Government, the dignity of daughters and mothers of State is constantly under attack.

Pratul said that in the last one year not a single rapist has been sentenced through speedy trial, whereas the State Government had promised to punish rapists within a year.

“The State Government should also tell that for a long time there was complete lockdown in the State. Schools, colleges, markets and offices were all closed. Despite this, how did such incidents of rape increase? Are the rapists also now convinced that they will not be punished by the government?” he asked.

Pratul said that till September this year, data of 1359 rape cases have been uploaded in the Jharkhand Police website. “The October and November figures have not been uploaded, whereas all these data are stored automatically. It seems as if the government, which is going to celebrate the first anniversary after 18 days, is trying to hide its failure by hiding the figures. BJP will continue to campaign against the State government until strict steps are taken for women’s safety,” he said.
