Following the direction coming from Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking bank deposit details from the party MlAs and MPs, the State BJP has called a legislative body meeting on Friday at the Chief Minister’s residence. The meeting besides, other issues would see distribution of the format furnished for this purpose among the leaders.

Highly placed sources in the State BJP confided that the party office has received the format and some of the MlAs have even got it as well. “We have clear direction from our high command’s office in this regard.

As soon as we got the ready made format we have started distributing it among the members from today itself. Right now about 10 MlAs have been handed over the paper to be filled,” said a senior legislator and office bearer of the party on Tuesday.

The move has come after the demonetisation announced by the Prime Minister on November 8 and said to be aimed at greater degree of internal transparency in the party. In his direction, the Prime Minister while addressing BJP’s parliamentary party meet had asked all party MlAs and MPs to submit details of their bank account transactions from November 8 onwards, the day demonetisation was announced.

The move is perceived as an effort to present a clean slate in the eyes of the people and score moral high ground after the currency ban announcement which has posed great deal of hardship to common people.

“We have approached all our party legislators, be it here in the Assembly or in the lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for filling up this declaration form. In the meeting the format sent to us would be made available to all of them. The filled format in a sealed envelope would have to be deposited to the Chief Minister and later would be forwarded to party high command in Delhi,” said BJP’s chief whip Radha Krishna Kishore.

The bank account details will be directed ultimately to party national president Amit Shah.

The format prepared for the party members has two major parts and completely in sync with the exercise happening after the demonetisation by the citizens all over the country.

“It is in two parts. The first part is about making declaration about the cash deposited in one’s bank accounts in the form of banned Rs500 and Rs1000 currency notes on and after November 9. The second declaration is to be made about the exchanges made against the banned notes by the particular MlA or MP after the announcement made. It is all about this and nothing to do with bank balance and other income details since these information have already been furnished at the time of election through an affidavit,” added Kishore.

This apart, the Friday meeting is also about finalising fine print of the achievements made by the incumbent Government during its two years of stay in power.
