The BJP Mahanagar unit has ordered sweets—laddoo and barfi—weighting 500 kg, expecting a victory in the Assembly election, the counting for which will be held on Monday. The BJP Mahanagar unit expects that the Saffron party will do better in four urban seats falling under Mahanagar unit.

BJP Mahanagar unit president Manoj Kumar Mishra said, “We are much confident of winning all four Assembly seats falling under BJP Mahanagar unit. We have ordered sweets- laddoo and barfi-weighting 500 kg.” Mishra claimed that apart from winning all four urban seats, the party is sure to form the Government as BJP will easily get the magic number for Government formation. The BJP Mahanagar unit after the election results has also planned to take out a victory procession.  Flowers and garlands have been ordered from florists.

Meanwhile, florists are busy stocking up for the big day. The flower of the moment is the politicians’ favourite — marigold. Heavy marigold garlands to impress winners are de rigueur. Roses are less common, though prevalent, especially in bouquets. With the rise of the BJP, lotuses are also in demand.

Meanwhile, all senior BJP leaders including BJP Assembly election in-charge Om Prakash Mathur has reached State Capital. Mathur, talking to mediapersons at Birsa Munda International Airport said, “The BJP is sure to form the government. The people will once again repose faith on BJP.” Echoing the views of Mathur, state BJP general secretary Dipak Prakash said, “The BJP does not believe on exit poll results. The party has carried out its own internal survey which clearly indicates that BJP is forming Government.”

However, most of the exit polls by news channels have indicated a hung Assembly. The ABP/C-Voters has given 35 seats to the opposition alliance of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). It has given 32 seats to the ruling BJP, five to the AJSU Party and three to the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) and six to others.

Aaj Tak has given the BJP between 22 and 32 seats, and the JMM-led opppsition between 38 and 50 seats.

Meanwhile, the State BJP leadership have been directed to camp at strong room from morning till the final picture is clear. Leaders have been asked not to leave the counting centre without informing their seniors. Also, the BJP cadres have been asked not to go on celebration mode till final results are out.

Results for  elections to the 81-member state assembly will be announced on December 23. The five-phase election was held between November 30 and December 20.
