The BJP leaders arrested during Emergency under the regime of Indira Gandhi were honoured by BJP district union. The programme was headed by BJP district president Rakesh Prasad. On the occasion Umesh Kansyakar, the central rural minister Sudarshan Bhagat was garlanded.
On the occasion Kansyakar said, "Before 40 years an emergency had been declared by Indira Gandhi and they had maltreated with the members of opposition parties. There had been ban on basic rights and expression of views. BJP observes this day as black day in political history." On the occasion many BJP members were present.
