As the former Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand was sworn in as the ninth Chief Minister of the State on Saturday, opposition parties like BJP, JVM and the CPI (Ml) came out on streets to register their protest against the government formed on the basis of persuasion and negotiation.

The opposition parties demonstrated dharnas and burnt effigies all over the state. BJP observed the day as ‘Dhikkar Diwas’, JVM as the ‘Kala Diwas’ while CPI called it as ‘loktantra Haran Diwas’.

According to the BJP, it smelled conspiracy by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre as well as the Governor House. “The present government has a major challenge before it to win the confidence of the people of the state. The present Soren government cannot win the hearts of the people unless it takes action against its tainted MlA like Sita Soren, Nalin Soren and Chamra linda,” said state BJP spokesperson Pradeep sinha. BJP workers protested with black flags on Saturday all over the State.

“The day Hemant Soren proves majority in the Assembly, the BJP will observe as Vishvsghaat Diwas,” added Sinha. Meanwhile, the JVM observed Saturday as black day in protest of the government formation on the basis of horse trading. “This is a government totally formed in the interest of the political leaders. The government formed on the backdrop of persuasion and negotiation cannot work in the interest of the people of the state,” said JVM spokesperson Saroj Singh. This will only promote corruption in the state, he added.

Similarly, the left parties also registered its protest all over the state against the government formation in the state at the cost of democratic values. It also observed the day as ‘loktantra Haran Diwas’ on Saturday. “The Congress used these six months time during the President rule to pressurize the JMM. The time under President Rule, meant to assure democratic values in a state was actually used to snatch it by the UPA government at the centre,” said CPI (Ml) MlA Vinod Singh.

According to Singh, Soren government like other governments earlier in the state is going to favour the corporate houses, added Singh.
