A state level workshop was organized today in the state BJP office regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Amendment Act 2025. In which the state team of Jagran Abhiyan run by BJP, state officials, state presidents of various fronts including officials of Minority Front, and district presidents of the party participated.
The meeting was conducted by the state convener of Jagran Abhiyan Kamal Khan, the vote of thanks was given by co-convener Amar Kumar Bauri.
Addressing the workshop, the party's National General Secretary and National Incharge of Minority Front Dushyant Gautam elaborated on the nuances of the Waqf Amendment Act, the benefits of the amendment.
Gautam said that Waqf is an irrevocable charitable fund established under Islamic law which is recognized in India under the Waqf Act 1995. It includes all donations made for sacred, charitable reasons under Islamic law.
He said that according to the report of the Central Waqf Board of 2018, there are more than 8 lakh acres of Waqf property in India, whose value is more than 10 lakh crores. He further said that despite this, today 31% of Muslims are forced to live below the poverty line. Nothing has been done for poor Muslims from Waqf property. A large group of religious leaders and politicians looted Waqf properties and deprived common Muslims of basic facilities. Thus, Waqf created for public welfare has become the biggest scam of India.
The BJP leader said that about 70% of Waqf properties have been illegally occupied while the rest of the properties have been leased to malls, hotels and industries at nominal rent.
He also said that the UPA government weakened property rights by expanding the powers of the Waqf Board in the Waqf Amendment Act 2013 and enabling arbitrary land acquisition.
He said that the Waqf Amendment Act 2025 has removed unlimited rights. An initiative has been taken to prevent government property from being declared as Waqf property. Women's rights have been increased in the board. Accountability has been ensured by making it transparent.
He said that if Waqf property was used properly, then today the Muslim brothers and sisters of India would have been richer than the Muslims of Saudi Arabia. He said that the amendment is not an encroachment on religious beliefs in any way. This is an initiative to make property related matters transparent. This is an attempt to realize the dream of a developed India.
BJP state President and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi said that the Waqf Amendment Act has been brought to save Waqf land from looters. He said that it is the nature of the Congress party to spread propaganda. First they spread propaganda about CAA, triple talaq. Then they spread propaganda about the Constitution. He also said that there is a huge difference between the words and actions of the Congress party.
