The Jharkhand BJP has demanded holding Assembly elections before July 18, as it feels the political uncertainty in Jharkhand must come to an end. It also believes that parties in the State have been quite inefficient towards forming a stable Government, in the circumstances.

At a Press conference on Sunday, State BJP president Ravindra Rai said the party would not hesitate to approach President Pranab Mukherjee or officials of the Election Commission, if necessary.

Rai said the BJP suspects the Congress-led UPA Government may try to delay matters on grounds of monsoons. “The Centre may misuse the Election Commission and defer Assembly elections,” said Rai.

Rai also alleged that not a single party in the State had put a positive and honest step towards forming a Government in the last four months. He alleged that Jharkhand had been deliberately put into a situation of political uncertainty and the administrative system was being misused regularly in favour of Congress.

The State party leadership has directed workers to gear up for Assembly polls and start preparations practically. “To gauge ground realities of the State, the party leadership will hold a meeting with its block and district representatives on May 16 in Ranchi,” said the BJP chief.

“We will take stock of the situation at over 24,000 polling booths during the meeting,” said Rai. later, a meeting will be held on June 9, in which BJP national president Rajnath Singh will also take part. Before that, Rai will go to Delhi with the list of members of State Committee to get approval of the Central leadership and the committee will be declared till May 12-13.

Rai also declared formally that the BJP will go alone in the next Assembly elections, as it feels the people of Jharkhand are fed up with coalition politics. The Central leadership will be consulted. Rai exuded confidence, saying the BJP was always prepared for elections in the State, as it has been working hard to get them to be held.
