The uproar of BJP MLAs continued even on the sixth day of the ongoing Jharkhand Assembly Budget Session. Due to BJP MLA’s protest the question hour was washed out as they have been protesting against the State government decision to dissolve the 2016 recruitment policy of former chief minister Raghubar Das and worsening law and order situation among others.
On Friday, as soon as the proceedings began the BJP MLAs entered the well of the house with their demand and started shouting slogans against the government. The BJP MLAs were demanding work adjournment motion, which the Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto rejected.
On the demand of BJP MLAs the Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto said that he would bring the work adjournment motion after the question hour, which the BJP legislators opposed. BJP MLA from Bhawanthpur Bhanu Pratap Shahi said that the tradition is being changed. Shahi charged that there is pressure from the Government on the Speaker Chair on changing the tradition. He said that this is the reason why the question from the Chief Minister from the question hour has been removed. The BJP on their demand later staged a protest. As the protest intensified the Speaker adjourned the question hour.
Meanwhile, Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto also advised BJP legislators to follow decorum. Despite this, BJP MLAs continued to shout slogans against the government in the well of the House. The Speaker said that the House runs from rule and not from pressure. The Speaker also gave a handbook of rules to the BJP MLAs.
The State BJP has been protesting against the State Government in Assembly for past few days on different issues. On Wednesday theState budget was tabled in the House devised a new way of protest with BJP legislator from Khunti Neelkanth Singh Munda presenting a ‘parallel Budget’ in the House.
Munda, who was in the role of Finance Minister kept reading the old budget of Raghubar Das government tenure in the Assembly as part of protest while Oraon read the budget. The BJP's argument behind presenting a parallel budget is that the present Government has failed on all sectors. The present Government has failed to utilise even 20 per cent of budgetary allocation for financial year 2020-21.
