The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Sunday accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of conspiring to prevent the meeting of former Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav with incarcerated RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Saturday at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi.

RJD State President Gautam Sagar Rana on Sunday told the media that the party will lodge a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) against the alleged conspiracy by the BJP.

Rana said that the party had sought permission of Palamu Sub Divisional Officer, Nandkishore Gupta for landing of Tejashwi Yadav’s helicopter near conference venue on Saturday.

“He (Gupta) had allotted a spot around four kilometers from the conference venue. The government’s chopper, however, could not land on time due to air traffic,” he said. Tejashwi visited Palamu on the day to participate in nomination filing of the party’s candidate, Ghuran Ram from Palamu parliamentary constituency.

Rana alleged that Tejashwi was not provided a chopper on time for flying to Ranchi and was told that the pilot had to return to Ranchi since the time allotted for Tejashwi’s air travel was over. Later, Tejashwi demanded another chopper, which arrived late, he added.

“Tejashwi could not reach Ranchi on time and was hence denied permission to meet his father,” said Rana.

A delegation of RJD office bearers will meet the CEO in Ranchi and highlight the alleged misconduct of the BJP. “They (BJP) are harassing our leaders in an effort to break our morale. However, the RJD will go on to win the elections this time around from Palamu and Chatra seats,” Rana said.
