BJP backs CM on Rajya Sabha poll row

PNS

The State BJP on Tuesday came in defence of Chief Minister Raghubar Das over recent row encircled around reported ‘sting operation’ relating to the Rajya Sabha poll. The party while justifying the move of the leader to walk down to Congress leader Yogender Sao termed it an effort to garner support for the NDA nominee in the election.

“The Chief Minister was well within his right to go to anyone related to the election in order to arrange votes. There was nothing wrong in it. Instead JVM and Congress should tell about their investigation to find out their members who had voted against the directions of their parties,” said BJP chief whip Radha Krishna Kishore referring to the cross voting taken place on the poll day that had brought both the seats of the Upper House into BJP’s kitty. He also asked why their polling agents maintained silence when the members cross voted.

While releasing an audio-video CD JVM supremo Babulal Marandi had alleged that the CM was in touch with Sao who was intimidated using Government machinery to make his MlA wife Nirmala Devi absent from voting.

Kishore later went on rapping JMM leader Hemant Soren for finding a racial angle into the conversation reportedly had taken place between Sao and senior police official Anurag Gupta ahead of the poll.

“Either he does not know the provisions of the SC/ST Preventions of Atrocities Act-1989. Section 3 (A) of the Act clearly says about any deliberate attempt to demean or intimidate any member of the community. Nowhere in the CD such an act has been committed against Hemant Soren. Just using the term Adivasi is not derogatory. The word is in use for various purposes on different occasions,” added the MlA.

He also questioned Hemant going to the police when the House was in motion whereas ducked the question about non-filling of the FIR on the complaints of Soren. “Such sensitive issues need preliminary examination and if required, FIR is filled. Police must be doing primary examination in this case,” said Kishore.
