Shishir Toppo, enraged after failed to file his nomination papers for his candidature from lohardaga constituency, has alleged that he was made victim of a conspiracy hatched by the sitting MlA KK Bhagat. He added that the party men were jealous about his rising popularity among the people as well as the workers of his constituency. Toppo, despite being declared a party candidate from lohardaga, was forced to pullout at the last moment as he denied official symbol need to file nomination.
Toppo, on Saturday could not file his nomination as Bhagat not coming into his support, kept on avoiding Toppo for the whole day. Bhagat was supposed to accompany Toppo, during the filing of nomination papers. “Although, I was declared a candidate for lohardaga by the Parliamentary Affairs Committee of the Party, despite my repeated efforts, I was ditched by MlA KK Bhagat at the last moment. Apparently, he did not wanted me to contest elections from the seat,” said AJSU leader Shishir Toppo.
According to Toppo all his efforts made in the last one year for the people of his constituency went in vain as he did not get the support of Bhagat which finally left the seat unrepresented by the AJSU party. “I was quite confident of my victory as I have worked hard in the constituency after I got positive signs from the party of getting ticket from lohagadaga, but all my dreams were shattered yesterday after being ditched by Bhagat,” said Toppo. Calling it an anti-party activity, Toppo further alleged that Bhagat had been involved such activity earlier also, but this time he was exposed before the party workers. Toppo depicted several reasons behind such an activity by a senior party leader.
“This might be because of my increasing popularity in the constituency and the workers as well; he kept on avoiding me till the time for filing nomination lapsed on Saturday. Party spokesperson Deosharan Bhagat however declines the allegations made by Toppo calling it a result of misunderstanding between the two which has already been sorted out. “There were some technical problems due to which his nomination could be filed. The misunderstandings however, have been sorted out by the two,” added Bhagat.
Similarly Amit Ranjan, declared AJSU candidate from Palamau declined to file his nomination papers as he did not want to contest elections against his father who is also a SP candidate from the same constituency. The sources however, revealed that both the candidates could not file their nominations as they did not get enough support from the party workers of their constituencies as these were the surprise names, never expected by party workers.
