In a time where beauty is often seen as superficial, here is a woman who redefines it as something sacred — a restoration of dignity, joy, and self-worth. Dr. Dwaipaika Chakraborty is not only an award-winning skin specialist, but also a healer, a giver, and a woman of unwavering spiritual purpose. From transforming the lives of young individuals battling acne to extending her loving care to army widows and underprivileged women, she is proof that medicine, when driven by compassion, becomes a blessing.
The Pioneer team had the honour of sitting down with her in her all-women-run clinic — a radiant, serene space that feels more like a temple of healing than a typical dermatology centre.
Shreya: Dr. Dwaipaika, it’s such a pleasure to meet you. Your journey is incredibly inspiring. Can you take us back to how this beautiful mission all began?
Dr. Dwaipaika: Thank you so much, Shreya. It warms my heart to share this. My journey began in childhood, really. My parents always encouraged me to help others, to find a way to serve. That sank deep into my heart. I became a doctor because I knew healing was my path. But as I worked, I found myself increasingly drawn to the emotional impact that skin conditions had on people. A single scar or a case of acne can destroy someone’s self-esteem. I realised — if I could restore their skin, I could restore their spirit. And that became my life’s work.
Siddhi: That’s incredibly touching. And today, your clinic is not only known for its success, but also for being entirely led by women. That’s so empowering!
Dr. Dwaipaika: Absolutely. It was a dream of mine — to create a space where women support women. Every member of my team is a woman, and every one of them brings her whole heart to the work. From therapists to front desk staff to our in-house consultants — we are like a family. There’s such strength in sisterhood. And when our clients walk in, they feel that energy — of warmth, of care, of non-judgment.
Shreya: That kind of atmosphere must be so healing in itself. I also heard about one of your patients — a young girl who was struggling deeply with acne and self-worth?
Dr. Dwaipaika: Yes… that story still gives me goosebumps. She came to me completely broken. Her acne had become so severe, she didn’t want to go to school anymore. She would cover her face, avoid people, and once even confided that she had thoughts of ending her life. I knew then that I wasn’t just treating her skin — I was holding her spirit. I used gentle, non-invasive treatments designed to reactivate her skin’s natural healing. No harsh chemicals, just science and love. Gradually, her skin healed — but more importantly, she began to glow from within. Today, she is full of confidence, pursuing her dreams. That transformation is why I do what I do.
Siddhi: That’s truly incredible, Doctor. And I believe you never let money come in the way of someone receiving care?
Dr. Dwaipaika: That’s right. I’ve never believed healing should be a luxury. If someone truly can’t afford the treatment, I treat them for free. I believe it is my dharma — my moral and spiritual responsibility — to restore their confidence. What I receive from them in return — their gratitude, their joy — it is far more valuable than anything money can buy.
Shreya: That’s so generous of you. And I heard you’ve made a special promise to help army widows and children of soldiers. Tell us more about that.
Dr. Dwaipaika: The families of our brave soldiers have made unimaginable sacrifices. I truly believe they are the real heroes of our country. It’s my heartfelt pledge that any army widow, any child of a soldier who needs skin care — will receive the highest quality of treatment at extremely low or no cost. It’s the least I can do to honour their bravery and selflessness.
Siddhi: What makes your treatments so unique is how natural they are. Could you explain a bit about your technique?
Dr. Dwaipaika: Of course. I believe our skin is deeply intelligent — it knows how to heal, but sometimes, due to trauma or stress, its natural rhythm is disturbed. I don’t use harsh chemicals or artificial substances. I use scientific massage methods, stimulation therapies, and cell-activating techniques that awaken the skin’s own power. Many of my clients say they feel “like themselves again.” That, to me, is the most beautiful compliment.
Shreya: And now, you’re also starting a podcast — what a lovely initiative! What inspired this?
Dr. Dwaipaika: Yes! We are building a podcast room right here in the clinic. I want to give people a platform — from celebrities to everyday warriors — to share their stories of courage, loss, healing, and strength. There are so many untold stories that can inspire others to rise. My dream is for someone, somewhere, to hear a story on our podcast and feel: “If they can do it, so can I.”
Siddhi: You radiate so much positivity and strength. I’m sure your faith has a role to play in your work?
Dr. Dwaipaika: Deeply. I start every morning with prayer. I see my clinic as a sacred space. I always say — I may have the degree, but it’s the divine who heals. I’m just an instrument. Everything I do is offered with love and devotion. When someone walks out of my clinic smiling, I feel I’ve served God through them.
Shreya: You truly are a symbol of modern-day womanhood — strong, spiritual, service-oriented, and successful. Thank you for all that you do, Doctor.
Dr. Dwaipaika: Thank you, Shreya. I just hope more women step into their power, find their voice, and never forget that they are beautiful — not just outside, but within. If my work helps even one soul remember their worth, then I know I’ve done my job.
