After being rapped by the Speaker’s court on the last occasion, one of the respondents submitted two witnesses supporting the said merger of the JVM into the BJP.
Binod Borai and another close aide of Minister Amar Kumar Bauri on Wednesday gave their testimonies before Dinesh Oraon and were cross examined also.
The witnesses referring to a February 8, 2015 meeting of the JVM leaders affirmed that the decision to merge the party into the governing BJP was taken at that point of time.
"Their witnesses claimed that such a meeting had taken place at Daladali of Ranchi in the leadership of partyIJ MlA Janki Prasad Yadav in which six MlAs unanimously agreed to the merger plan. I strongly objected to the clearly false statements from them and submitted before the Speaker that the JVM still stands and there is no truth behind the merger story," said JVM lawyer RN Sahay after the hearing.
The court had on the last occasion pulled up the respondents for their delaying tactics and indulging into technicalities. Today as well the JVM request the speaker to speed up the presentation of witnesses, total 78 in this case, and their cross examination.
"I said that the case would delay unreasonably if two-three witnesses would keep coming and they are cross examined. Thus the hearing should be conducted on weekly basis. Though the Court did not made any comment on that," added the lawyer. The Court was adjourned after the cross examination which would continue on the next date that has not been fixed.
