Central Coalfields limited (CCl) organised Zonal Mines Rescue Competition 2012-13 at Rescue Room with refresher training (RRRT), Kathara Area (Bokaro) on October 25 2013. The programme was presided by TK
Nag,director (technical/ operations), CCl. Anoop Biswas, who was the chief guest of the function, congratulated all the participants and appreciated their efforts. He said that CCl has a very able and strong rescue team. “There is scope of modernization in the team by which its utilisation may not be confined to only mines but alsocan be utilised in socialdisaster management,” Biswas said.
E Jai Kumar, DMS, who was the judge in the competition declared the results. Barka-Sayal team bagged the Overall Best Team, while Hazaribagh and Kathara bagged the Overall Second Best Prize and Third Best Prize respectively. In other categories, Kathara got the Best Rescue Team award, Baraka Sayal got Best Recovery and Best Statutary award, Hazaribagh Area got Best Fab Award, while NK Area declared the Best First Aid Prize, Piparwar got Best March Past Award and Argada Area got Best Turn out Award. Ashish Ram from Barka Sayal awarded as Best Members and Snehendra Kumar Singh of Hazaribagh awarded as Best Caption. TK Nag, who presided the function, said “Mining is a risky job where we always need trained rescue and recovery team. At present, we have less number of underground mines and more numbers of open castmines so for open cast mines we need specialised groups of rescue people.”
