Other big brands are also doing good business in automobile sector in the city. “As we all know Durga puja is considered propitious. Customers usually invest during this time but now that we are offering discounts on selected cars, people have started booking cars. However, Most of the buyers will take the delivery in the mid of October when Durga puja begins,” said Managing director of Basudeb Honda, Rohit Kataruka.
“Presently, we have offers on Honda amaze. We are giving a discount of `47,000 on Honda Amaze. On the other hand, customers are also booking Honda city, Jazz and other models too. Apart from discounts we are also offering free insurance services to the customers,” Kataruka further added.
Citing details about the targets Kataruka further asserted, “Right now nothing is fixed as diwali is yet to come. However, the sales of Honda cars are always on rise as customers prefer buying this brand for various reasons like customer service, maintenance and other aspects. Even today Honda sells more cars in comparison to any other brand. Only Maruti and Hyundai sell more petrol cars than Honda but that is simply because of their large range and huge volumes.”
Customers too prefer buying cars and two wheelers during this period as they are familiar with the fact that in order to compete with each other every company will come up with wide-rang of offers and concessions. Another reason for the boom in automobile sector is the easy availability of loan from both private and nationalised banks at a nominal interest rate.
“Though I already have an Innova car, I bought a Maruti 800 car recently as I was getting a very good discount and offer on the purchase and moreover buying car particularly during the time of Durga puja is considered favorable,” said Guja Tirkey, a builder.
On the other hand two wheelers market in the city is doing a brisk business. “We receive good numbers of booking from customers at this point of time. There is a craze for bikes and scooty among the youngsters and almost every year there is a rise of 40 percent in the sale of two wheelers during Durga Puja and Diwali,” informed Nived Choudhary owner of Sai TVS.
Similarly, Sandeep Gupta, Sales Manager of Universal Honda asserted, “Every year during festive season the sale increases by 30 percent. Maximum sale is registered in the month of October, November and December.”
